Signals and Systems

This course deals with signals, systems, and transforms, from their theoretical mathematical foundations to practical implementation in circuits and computer algorithms. You will have a deep understanding of the mathematics and practical issues of signals in continuous and discrete time, linear time-invariant systems, convolution and Fourier transforms at the end of this course. You will also learn behaviour of analog & digital signals and the impact of signals on a specific system. You will learn about the applications of signals and systems in the fields of electrical, mechanical, chemical , electronics and aeronautical engineering.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will be able to :
  • Provides concepts of signals and systems with their classification , basic properties and operations.
  • Learn most important types of systems, the linear time invariant(LTI) Systems and their basic properties.
  • Knowledge on continuous-time Fourier series and continuous-time Fourier transform and their applications to LTI systems.
  • Ability to learn the time and frequency characterization of signals and systems.
  • Helps to learn the sampling theorem and its various aspects.
  • Provides deep concepts and applications of analog and digital signals.
  • Deals with z- transform and its various properties.
  • Deals with Convolution, impulse response representation and Block diagram representations.
  • Ability to solve the problems using discrete-time Fourier transform.
