Solving problems with a pencils and paper method to identify patterns in solution formation, and converting patterns into optimal solution to define low complexity algorithms is a hard found skill. During this internship, students will solve many such tricky problems through various enjoyable activities like treasure hunt, team activities, gamified learning activities etc to acquire deep problem solving skills inherently.

The brain identifying appropriate algorithmic strategy to solve a problem as soon as the problem is put forward is a bliss. That's a bliss which every student would like to acquire. Understanding the nuances of defining low complexity algorithmic model by choosing appropriate design strategy can take a learner to miles in his career. A learner with such strong algorithmic thinking skills gains high importance in any organisation thus holding a long lasting career in life. In this internship students would solve hundreds of problems to develop such deep algorithmic thinking skills.

Java is an object-oriented computer programming language, which is class-based, concurrent and also for general purpose. The cornerstone of the design - it is one of the few programming platforms that has very little implementation dependencies. Java can be best described as a set of multiple computer software and specifications, which can provide systems for application software development for use in cross platform environment as well.

In this internship, you will be building a complete, end-to-end java application from scratch. You will implement core object oriented programming techniques. You will master design principles and apply proper architecture to solve problems.

For 2nd and 3rd Year Students

In the simplest terms, a humanoid is a robot that mimics human actuation in all respects. The design of a humanoid hence starts with taking reference from human anthropological data wherein, the heights of different parts of the humanoid are arrived at. Consequently, the dimensions and bill of materials will be fixed based on factors including density of the material, strength to weight ratio, positioning of the centre of gravity, etc.

Once a rough estimate of specifications of different linkages is made, Kinematic and Dynamic analysis of the humanoid robot will be carried out to determine the torque and speed requirements. Based on the torque and speed requirements, motors and actuators will be chosen. These selections of actuators would account for the weight and moment experienced at every links and joints.

Having chosen the actuators and their encoders, the next stage will involve the selection of appropriate controllers with feedback system for every joint. These controllers of individual actuators will, in turn, be connected to master controllers for coordinating and mimicking the human motion. The major challenge in the humanoid design is to ensure the stability both in static and dynamic conditions. Stability analysis is conducted assuming the geometry of knees and trajectory of feet during walking. IMU unit is deployed to get the error signal feedback to be given to the actuators through the master and slave controllers.

As an intern, you will be exposed to the ecosystem of humanoid research where you would get ample opportunities to learn the product design from the core research team and get along with the fabrication of different modules of humanoid.

The development of a humanoid involves the integration of mechanical design and development, and appropriate actuators, sensors, controllers and power sources. DC motors, stepper, and servo motors will be used for the actuation of each joint. Consequently controllers will be chosen based on architecture, memory, timers, operating frequency, and peripheral interfaces. Communication between the individual actuators with the help of controllers is a skill to be learnt in the development of an embedded system.

Programming of PIC, Arduino, Raspberry pi and STM controllers will be done to meticulously execute the prescribed angles and velocity for the selected joints. The challenge with the embedded systems is all about having uniform behaviour under all circumstances.

PID controllers and IMU unit are employed to ensure sensitive feedback of error signals to actuate the selected links to the desired level.

An ideal closed-loop control system shall always ensure the actuation of links to follow the prescribed trajectory and the stability of the robot in motion.

As an intern, you will have fun learning in the research eco system and be able to design new modules of embedded systems for automation.
