About the Course

This course extensively deals about transistors and their operations. Transistor is a miniature electronic component that can do two different jobs. It can work either as an amplifier or a switch. When it works as an amplifier, it takes in a tiny electric current at one end and produces a much bigger electric current at the other. It can amplify and switch electrical power and electronic signals. Transistors are made of semiconductor material with three or more terminals used to connect to an external circuit. By applying a current or a voltage to one of the pairs of the terminals, there is a change in current through another pair of terminals.When using the transistor as a switch, a small Base current controls a much larger Collector load current.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will be able to

  • Understand the basic operations of BJT, FET and MOSFET.

  • Design and analyse bias circuits for amplifiers of the different configurations.

  • Analyse voltage divider bias,base bias and collector feedback bias circuits.

  • Design simple linear power supplies according to the required specifications.

  • Design and analyze different multistage amplifiers.

  • Analyse the frequency response of amplifiers.

Biasing of BJT

In this module, you learn about the basic operation of a BJT transistor. And also to design bias circuits for transistor to act as oscillator, amplifier and a switch. This module also deals about different parameters that infuence the biasing such as stability factor.
